Aluthgama
Western Province

Aluthgama is a small town beside the mouth of the Bentota River, with a railway station, a lively market and boats moored along the water. It sits just north of Bentota and shares its beach and river scenery.
River cruises through the mangroves leave from the area, and the beach is a short walk away. Brief Garden, laid out by the brother of the architect Geoffrey Bawa, is a short drive inland.
