Beruwala
Western Province

Beruwala is a beach resort on the south-west coast with a busy fishing harbour, colourful boats and a long stretch of sand. It is one of the older tourist areas and has many hotels, including Ayurvedic retreats.
The harbour is a lively sight in the early morning when the boats come in, and a lighthouse stands on a small island offshore. The Ketchimalai Mosque on the headland is one of the oldest mosques in the country.
