Panadura is a coastal town south of Colombo, on the road and railway to the south coast. It has a long beach with palm trees and a busy market, and it is easy to reach from the airport and the capital.
The beach is better for walking and sunsets than for swimming, since currents can be strong. The town is a convenient place for a first or last night when you want to be close to Colombo without staying in the city.
